"The Expectant Mother" by Kiriti Sengupta
The Expectant Mother
She lies supine.
Close to her chest, she holds
a greased mango leaf,
blazed to kohl. Her eyes
whist like a whisper.
She stretches her hands
to douse the sky
with blood and water.
