“[i can hear the man dream]” by Justin Lacour
i can hear the man dream there are mermaids in the 17th Street canal just for him mermaids who are sensitive so he can be the monster in the fairy tale even in his dreams he’s a monster but one who can be broken i break him with my revolution covered in tattoos growing muscles in my sleep and tonight i straddle his dream hands on my hips eyebrow raised until he calls me a warrior in middle age my water broke later i couldn’t see my baby through the tears all the pain a stranger stitched my sex back together but listen to this man whimper as i squeeze the bones out of his dream
