Don’t Be Tired

There is stillness there is also death
I cry with eyes open mouth trembling
In bargaining prayer I have many friends
With less faith yet better circumstances than I
Am reminded to focus not on outcomes but
On the journey itself khaste nabashid is on
Our neighbors lips constantly and continuously
Still I slide down the adobe wall as they watch
With knowing pity.

Lisa Sultani earned her MA in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin—Madison.
