“Sound and Vision” by Paul Ilechko

Sound and Vision

We call it snow but is it really snow
a trace event that turns to slush beneath
the wheels     and draws meandering icy lines

you peer from a darkened room into
the unexpected brilliance of a moonlit night
where ice reflects a unified field

of emptiness     the room around you crushed
with the forces of imagination    as clouds
and ships sweep past     filled with
the broken relics that still remain     after

the bandage is ripped from your eyes
you break down and sob as a car drives
slowly by     that pounding bass     clearly
audible in the silence that surrounds you.
