“[measure of life],” “[having sliced your head in two],” and “[pervasive angle]” by Ivan de Monbrison

measure of life

or inanition of a corpse

I'd like to toss my shadow once
up in the air

forever walking down
the flat horizon only

its sweating razor blade

having sliced your head in two
down to your open neck

your mouth now smeared

my bleeding wound

the smile awry
is somehow like the teethless mouth

of a fornicating angel

pervasive angle
to stumble on one's own body
I had never seen before
a cadaver so close

even as I am quite farsighted
he pretty much looks to be

a pretty shallow prey
