"Making Room" by Abbie Doll

Making Room

welcome to my cluttered closet heart, please be mindful
of the overflow, it’s quite the mess (I know, I know)
so many outfits I’ve outgrown, abandoned my flaky
interest, led astray by the latest fashion, enticed by
each & every trendy ensemble, the shiny allure of
new—roused to ecstasy by its glittery seduction
while excited, we forgo disposal of the unused
neglect to confess we are done with all of this
wreckage, done dealing with this dreadful
spillage, with every hanger occupied
no vacancies means no space, for
more, we must make room, must
allow the moth its feast on our
fabrics, our aged material
of former lovers, we
must resist this
relentless urge
to mourn and
instead allow
for this
decay
