"Message from Cuba" by John Rodzvilla
Message from Cuba
We received a
Message from our
Brother in Cuba.
It crossed the straight
In a duck egg.
It took longer
Than the post to
Get here. When it
Did there were stamps
Of women in
Scarves carrying
Grapes in crates in
A starlit field.
Inside was
The odd phrase
Floating in
Yolk on a
Collagen
Membrane:
Tiny writing
Of quotes from
Churchill and
Twain.
We served it
Over rice.
