ISSUE EIGHT: "Soap" by Shawn Pfunder

Soap

The day I discovered soap was made from ash and animal fat, I took the skin from a bear—still warm—and standing in my garage I rubbed down my body.

I lit a fire and waited for the rest. I let the wind finish the job.

Then clean and baptized, I went growling through the streets looking for love and jumping fish.
